Fellow Wolfsburg Club Members:

This coming Saturday, April 25th, is the date of the annual Bethany Bible Church “Motorama”.

Gates open at 7:00 AM with the show itself running from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

There is no charge to enter the show and a free brunch will be provided as well.

Canned food and donations are welcome so please bring something along to support their cause.

For you early birds, Terry Skinner has proposed meeting at 6:30-6:45 AM in the parking lot of the Super Wal-Mart inside Chris Town Mall at 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road and then driving in together.

This is always a very nice event and I hope to see many of you in attendance.

Wolfsburg Registry Cruise Postponed

Published on Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Fellow Club Members:

As of Thursday evening we have had a few more cancellations from the already small group for Sunday’s cruise.

For various reasons (family, church and vehicle status) there are only 3/4 vehicles still able to make the cruise:  Terry Skinner, Walter Pendleton, and Jon Douglas and possibly Steve Hollingsworth.

These gentlemen are welcome to meet and cruise Dead Horse, but I will look for another time to hold a club picnic as a “thank you” for working our very successful Copperstate ‘09.  I’m considering the last weekend of the month around the time of Motorama.  I’ll set a time and place and update you all at our next meeting.

Sometimes life just gets in the way.

Have a wonderful weekend whatever you plan.

See you at the meeting.

Nancy

Wolfsburg Registry Invited To The D3 Memorial Cruise

Published on Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Hello All:

As listed on our calendar (see item below), next Sunday, March 8th, we have been invited to join the D3 on a leisurely cruise to Tortilla Flats.  The plan is to meet at 10:00 AM at the KMART located at the corner of Hampton and Power Roads in Mesa.  The caravan will form and we’ll cruise through some pretty scenic landscape to Tortilla Flats.

Some of us enjoyed a cruise there a few years back with our club and the drive was a good one.

This is a great way to enjoy some nice weather, good views, and great friends.  Not to mention saying a nice “thanks” to the D3 for working our event a couple of weeks ago.

The cruise is also a memorial to the recent passing of a D3 member which makes it even more special.

I hope to see many of you next Sunday with/or without your VW.  Come and join the fun!

Nancy

February Meeting

Published on Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Due to the Copperstate Show, we are late in getting out the February Meeting post.  Some of the upcoming events we discussed have been left out of this post since they have already taken place.

Past Events:

January was a slow month for VW events.  UTI did have a Monster Truck event on January 23rd that several members attended with their VW cars for display in anticipation of the upcoming Copperstate Show.  Other than that we kept a pretty low profile.

Upcoming Events:

Bugorama will be held on March 29th at Firebird Raceway.  We should discuss the possibility of a caravan to the show so that those who will be showing their cars will have a better chance of parking together.  Wolfsburg Registry has a history of doing well at Bugorama, so lets plan on a big turn out!

The annual Route 66 Fun Run will take place this year on May 1st through the 3rd.  Nancy has reserved blocks of rooms in Williams and Kingman.  Be sure to get yours (see Nancy) before they are gone!

The President speaks:

Because we have lots of Copperstate Show business to go over, Jeff’s time in the sun was brief this month.  He mentioned that there were some fresh ideas coming this year.  Can’t wait to see what those may be!

One thing we did discuss about the Show in the general meeting, was that we want everyone who attends our show to feel like they are at Disney Land.   We want UTI to be the happiest place on earth on the 15th.

Now that the show is behind us, we can all be proud that we accomplished our mission and the show was a huge sucess.  Thanks to everyone in the club who helped.  Every job was an important one and as they say “The whole is only as good as the sum of it’s parts”.  GREAT JOB EVERYONE!

A special thanks to the Daily Driven Dubs, who came out in force and did a fantastic job controlling the parking and making people feel welcome as they arrived.  You guys ROCK!
